Named in honor of Spelman’s 10th president, this state-of-the-art building embodies the vision of creating a dynamic space where Spelman’s students in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) can engage, collaborate, and innovate.

The Division of Arts is the place where creativity becomes a catalyst for building community, ultimately providing unique insight into diverse traditions, philosophies and history. Through rigorous study and hands-on practice, students gain the knowledge and skills to create meaningful work while exploring art as a powerful form of visual communication shaped by history, culture, tradition, and emerging critical perspectives.
Our programs foster intellectual curiosity, creative experimentation, and a deep understanding of the ways art intersects with civic life, social systems, technology, and global communities. Beyond developing as artists and scholars, students build entrepreneurial and professional skills that prepare them to lead, innovate, and thrive in the evolving creative economy.
