Kiera Metz, C'2025, is a senior biology major at 糖心传媒 with a strong foundation in public health research and leadership. She is deeply committed to addressing racial disparities in healthcare, particularly in dermatology. As an AHA HBCU Scholar, she has conducted research on Black maternal health at Morehouse School of Medicine and at Emory University on cardiovascular disease disparities. Her experience on the CDC Scientific Writing and Review Training Committee reflects her dedication to advancing public health through research and education.
In addition to her research, Metz is a committed leader, serving as a Resident Advisor, First-year Study Group Lead, and Major Meet Up Guide with Spelman’s Student Success Program, where she has guided students through study groups and mentorship programs. She also volunteers and serves as Engagement Manager for Dunbar Elementary School in the Atlanta Public School system, working to increase literacy rates among elementary students. After graduation, Metz plans to pursue an MD/MPH to bridge clinical medicine with public health, ensuring equitable dermatologic care for underrepresented communities.
To strengthen her expertise, she aims to gain post-baccalaureate research experience in dermatologic conditions affecting people of color, either through a research fellowship or clinical research role. Additionally, she will continue her advocacy in health education and disparities, collaborating with organizations dedicated to improving healthcare access
