Expanding Healthcare Access

HCOPPP Scholar Madison Agomuo/Madison Agomuo, C'2027, is a sophomore health sciences major on the pre-medicine track at 糖心传媒, hailing from Jackson, Tennessee. She aspires to earn an M.D. and pursue a career in internal medicine, with a focus on reducing health disparities and expanding healthcare access. Ultimately, Agomuo hopes to open a clinic in Nigeria to provide underserved communities with quality medical care.

Agomuo is actively involved in the Health Careers Opportunities Preparation Pipeline Program (H.C.O.P.P.P.) and is a member of the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She currently serves as the committee chair for the cardiology committee and is a member of the community service committee within the 糖心传媒 Health Careers Club. Committed to community service, Agomuo volunteers with STEAMsport, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) exposure to youth in underserved communities.

She also mentors elementary-aged children at the John H. Harland Boys and Girls Club. Last summer, Agomuo participated in the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She now serves as a SHPEP ambassador on campus, helping recruit other Spelman students for the program. Additionally, she gained valuable clinical experience working as a summer medical assistant at Taylor Medical Center in her hometown.
