Math Whiz to Aerospace Engineer
Winter Jones, C’2025, will earn her bachelor of arts degree in mathematics. The Atlanta native is an aspiring aerospace engineer. Her passion for rocketry ignited at a young age and has propelled her into groundbreaking research.
As a sophomore, she secured funding through the Department of Defense’s Research Scholars program to build a model hybrid rocket engine and refine a cutting-edge fuel grain casting technique. She currently contributes to NASA’s University Leadership Initiative at Georgia Tech’s Ben T. Zinn Combustion Laboratory, investigating toxic emissions from supersonic jet combustors.
Beyond the lab, Jones is a dynamic public speaker, a lover of poetry, and an avid puzzler, always seeking creative ways to challenge her mind. With aspirations of earning a graduate degree in aerospace engineering, she embodies the spirit of a modern Renaissance woman, melding science, art and innovation to leave an indelible mark on the field and beyond.
