Dr. Miesha Williams is Vice Chair and Associate Professor of Economics at ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½. She serves on the Steering Committee for Spelman’s Center of Excellence for Black Women in STEM and is a Fellow of the Center for Black Entrepreneurship and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation’s Translating Spelman’s Success in STEM initiative. Her research focuses on applied macroeconomics, inclusive growth, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurship, with particular attention to Black communities in the United States and economic development across Africa. Dr. Williams has published in leading journals including the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, AEA Papers and Proceedings, Southern Economic Journal, Journal of Economics, Race, and Policy, and the Review of Black Political Economy. Her work has been supported by the U.S. Department of Education, National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, USDA, and private foundations. She has developed a Python-based data science module to strengthen quantitative training and an Entrepreneurship in the Beauty Industry course for Spelman’s Cosmetic Science minor. Dr. Williams earned her B.S. in Economics from Florida A&M University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Alabama.
