Tatiana Ward is a biology major on the pre-medicine track from Leesburg, Virginia. She plans to attend an osteopathic medical school to earn her DO degree and help address the United States’ overreliance on prescribing medications to individuals facing socioeconomic barriers and systemic biases. Ward is passionate about holistically treating patients by considering their lifestyle, history and stressors, rather than focusing solely on their diagnosis.
Last summer, Ward participated in the CECAT Oaxaca Abroad Program, where she completed a 4-credit Spanish immersion course and a medical and healthcare training internship. During her time in Oaxaca, Mexico, she gained hands-on experience working alongside healthcare providers, assisting physicians and nurses in patient care while utilizing her Spanish-speaking skills.
At ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½, Ward is an active member of several organizations, including the Health Career Opportunities Pipeline Preparation Program (HCOPPP), the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS), the Health Careers Program, and Alpha Lambda Delta honors society. Her commitment to serving underrepresented communities extends beyond campus through her volunteer work at the Fulton County Animal Shelter, where she socializes and trains animals to improve their chances of adoption.
